提要

　一群池中蛙，或因懶得和睦溝通、或因人云亦云，吵著要求老天賜一個國王，最後才終於體會「無」遠勝於「有」的道理。

　A　pool　was　abounded　with　frogs.They　alwaysdesired　to　have　a　king,as　they　felt　unguardedwithout　him.So,they　held　a　meeting　anddecided　to　see　Jupiter,the　chief　of　gods,and　askhim　for　a　king.So,they　went　to　him　and　placedtheir　request　before　him.

　Jupiter　was　surprised　at　the　foolish　request　andtried　to　advise　the　frogs　but　all　in　vain.So,he　casta　big　log　into　the　pool　and　said　that　it　was　theirking.The　splash　of　the　falling　log　terrified　thefrogs　and　they　ran　hurriedly　to　save　themselves.

　But　af ter　some　time,they　came　back　and　saton　the　log.Seeing　itquite　motionless,theybegan　to　hate　it.

　So,the　frogs　againcame　to　Jupiter　andrequested　him　to　replace　their　king　with　someactive　king.Jupiter　sent　a　crane　as　their　king whobegan　to　catch　and　eat　them up　daily.

　Finally,they　were　taught　a　right　lesson　fortheir　folly.

　解說池塘裡，住著一大群青蛙。青蛙們總希望有一個國王來治理牠們，因為不想「群龍無首」。於是牠們開會決定拜訪眾神的首領—邱比特，並要求邱比特賜給眾蛙一個青蛙國王。

　邱比特對這個愚蠢的要求非常吃驚，試圖向青蛙們講理，勸牠們打消這格念頭，卻發現一切都是徒勞。於是，他投了一根大木頭入池，告訴青蛙們，這就是他們的國王。從天而降大木頭，飛濺的巨大水花嚇壞了所有的青蛙，每一隻都找地方慌張躲避。過了一段時間後，蛙群回到巨木旁，坐在上面。看到它一動也不動，開始討厭這個「國王」。蛙群又回到邱比特面前，請求一個「活躍

　一點」的國王。邱比特於是派了一隻鶴到池塘當「青蛙國王」，這個「國王」，每天都會吃幾隻青蛙。

　終於，蛙群因為愚蠢而學到了教訓。
