Rose《玫瑰》演唱者
不算美麗的貝蒂蜜勒（Bette Midler），外型不出眾卻才華洋溢、信心十足。她身兼歌手、作詞作曲者、喜劇演員、電影製片與企業家多種身分。曾獲兩次奧斯卡獎提名，得過三項葛萊美獎、四項金球獎。
《玫瑰》是由貝蒂蜜勒演唱、演出的同名歌曲、電影。唱片銷售超過五十萬張，貝蒂蜜勒也因《玫瑰》贏得葛萊美「最佳流行女歌手獎」。
take a chance
「take a chance」是冒險，碰運氣。例如：They will take a chance with the weather and go for a picnic. （天氣不穩定，他們仍決定碰運氣去野餐）。
瑞典著名樂團阿巴（ABBA）的一首名曲就唱過：「If you change your mind, I'm the first in line, Honey I'm still free, Take a chance on me......」如果你改變主意，我排在第一順位，親愛的，請給我一個機會（跟妳交往）……。
timely
「timely」是及時、適時的。例如：「Your timely warning saved our lives.」（ 你的及時警告救了我們的命。）
詩中的知心好友，會在恰當的時候表達體貼（timely word, the thoughtful line…），所以才能夠照亮我的人生（brightens up my day）。
