Humanistic Buddhism Center (HBC), Philippines in cooperation with the Department of Philosophy of the University of San Carlos just finished the second forum in Humanistic Buddhism Lecture Series with Venerable(Ven.) Miao Guang and her Lecture entitled: Humanistic Buddhism: Perspective and Prospective. It was attended internationally with a wide range of audience from the Philippines, Australia, Taiwan, China, Singapore, and Malaysia totalling to 145 in attendance.

At the Institute of Humanistic Buddhism, Deputy Chancellor Ven. Miao Guang leads international research conferences and scholarship in Humanistic Buddhism. She expounded on the historical, political and cultural development of pre- and contemporary periods of Humanistic Buddhism (HB). With the backgrounds, she elaborated that the practice of HB is the transcendence of ending sufferings and revealing the Bodhicitta in all human activities.

Miao Jing delivered her opening remarks that although we come from different backgrounds but we come online because of a special affinity with Venerable Master Hsing Yun (VMHY). We practice Three Acts of Goodness, Four Givings to transcend moments of ignorance into enlightenment, negativity into positivity to purify body and mind; to fill our life with compassion and patience.

It is hoped that through the lecture, academic researches on HB will be cultivated in the Philippines. With the recommendation of Head Abbess Ven. Yung Guang of FGS Philippines and Deputy Chancellor Ven. Miao Guang, Dr M. Purino, Dr. C. Manikan and Dr. H. Correa were the founding committee to setup HBC in Philippines and organized this academic research work in this Catholic nation.
