"Haste makes waste" says that when we act too quickly ("haste") , we are more likely to make mistakes and end up with poor results ("waste").
For example:"Most spelling mistakes are the result of going too fast and not checking your work. "
"Haste makes waste" also says that it is better to do things carefully than to do them quickly and carelessly.
The results that we end up with when we do things carelessly are often useless and sometimes costly.
There was a living proof of "Haste makes waste" . In New Zealand, the authorities said a lamp post and a pair of handcuffs foiled an escape attempt by two prisoners from a courthouse.
Security staff at Hastings District Court on New Zealand's North Island said the two men ran from the courthouse but were stopped when they attempted to run on either side of a lamp post, apparently forgetting they were handcuffed together.
Hastings police sergeant said. "They fell over and they were sprayed with pepper spray. But they got up and ran out of the court onto the street, across the road to a car park," he said. "That's where they met the pole , it was all over, rover."
每當覺得「十萬火急」的時候,不妨吸一口氣,心中默念「I'm not in such a hurry!」(我其實沒那麼急!)

WOW!
Think before you leap
「Think before you leap 」或 「look before you leap」都可解釋為「三思而後行」。
foil
The authorities
就是某方面的權威專家(an organization or institution that controls something)
Charles was an authority on antique musical instruments.(查爾斯是古樂器的權威。)
The girl told the authorities that she had been kidnapped from her home.(那個女孩告訴警方,她被人自家中綁架。)
