7.Aniruddha: A descendant of royal lineage, he was the Buddha's cousin. Due to his arduous practice, he lost his eyesight, but at a later stage, he gained the divine vision.
7.阿那律︰王族的後裔,佛陀的堂弟,因勤於修行,雙目成盲,後得天眼。

8.Upali: Born in the lowest caste, he was a barber who served Aniruddha and other princes. He became ordained well ahead of all the princes and became their elder Dharma brother, and received high respect from those princes. This is a demonstration of equality in the Dharma.
8.優婆離︰出身賤族,為阿那律等王子的剃頭匠,後來在諸王子之前出家,成為師兄,受王子比丘的禮拜,為佛法平等精神的表現。

9.Ananda: The young brother of Devadatta and attendant of the Buddha, he was also famous for his handsomeness. The bhiksuni community was established later because of his request to the Buddha.
9.阿難陀︰提婆達多的弟弟、佛陀的侍者,是有名的美男子。因為他的請求,才有比丘尼教團。

10.Rahula: The most fortunate boy in the world, he was the son of Buddha, the disciple of Sariputra, and the first sramanera. He was innocent and energetic, but after being scolded by the Buddha, he practiced diligently and later attained enlightenment.
10.羅羅︰人間的幸福兒,他是佛陀的親子、舍利弗的弟子,也是第一位沙彌。天真活潑,因受佛陀的呵斥,而刻苦修持開悟。

A verse goes as follows:
Sariputra of wisdom, Maudgalyayana with supernatural power, and Purna who is eloquent;
Subhuti and emptiness, Katyayana's eloquence, and Mahakasypa's diligence in asceticism practice;
Aniruddha's divine vision, and Upali's upholding of precepts;
Ananda is foremost in hearing the teachings, and Rahula the best in esoteric practices.
偈云︰舍智連通說富那,須空旃論迦頭陀,那律天眼波離戒,阿難多聞密行羅。
