One who amasses wealth is envied by others;

One who gathers knowledge is respected by others.

It takes vision for one to share his power,

magnanimity to share wealth,

and knowledge to share knowledge.

Replace ignorance with statesmanship,

Replace a bag of gold with a library of books,

Replace fair-weather friends with literature and arts,

Replace a utilitarian society with one filled with the

fragrance of books.

Life ends not at death,

but the moment one is isolated from books;

Life begins not at birth,

but the moment a passion for books is discovered.

Read first rate books, be a first rate person,

and establish a first rate society.
