Aged just nine, seven and five, the Pritchard youngsters have returned from a 60,000 mile trip across 29 countries.
Rowan, Rhys and their sister Jenna took a year off from school to embark on an early gap year.
During their trip of a lifetime with their parents, the globetrotting trio took 36 flights, 47 boat trips and 21 train journeys as well as travels by he-licopter, cable car and rickshaw.
Their adventures involved swapping school dinners for donkey stew and guinea pig lasagne, staying in Amazo-nian huts surrounded by tarantulas and leeches, and watching whales and tortoises in the Galapagos islands.
Their 38-year-old mother Rachel, a marketing consul-tant, explained why the family decided to take a year off from the daily grind.
She said: "We wanted to teach our kids about the world by showing it to them, and felt it was an excellent way to teach the children about geography, history and cultural anthropology. We have had an amazing time. They have memories which will last a life-time."
Rachel Pritchard and her husband Joe put their business on hold after receiving an unexpected inheritance and set off in August last year.
They began their travels in New York, and after seeing the sights in the USA and Canada they headed to South America then on to Australasia, Asia and finally back to Europe and their home in Llandovery, Car-marthenshire.
And their 366-day epic journey, which cost over £50,000, had its fair share of hairy moments.
The 38-year-old Joe Pritchard re-called walking through the jungle when Jenna uttered a piercing scream. He said: "She was covered in leeches all across her stomach and her thighs. It was one of the points in the journey when we thought: 'What are we do-ing to our poor children'"
Less frightening episodes came as the children wandered round the An-dean city of Machu Picchu, followed in the footsteps of Charles Darwin on the Galapagos Islands and travelled 6,000 miles on the Trans Siberian ex-press from China to Moscow.
In Yosemite National park in Cal-ifornia they were woken up in their shack by bears searching for food at 4am.
But one of the most fraught moents came when little Rhys, clearly displaying a wanderlust of his own, disappeared from the family tent in Mongolia.
Rachel remembered: "He did tell us he was going but we were rather groggily asleep. When we surfaced he was nowhere to be seen. Joe got out the binoculars to spot our tiny dot on the horizon. He braved wild horses fighting, bull yaks and a wild dog cir-cling him, and was happy as anything when he got back to us safe and well several hours later."
Joe continued: "We had 15 days in Peru and I thought: 'Why not save some money by taking a coach instead of a plane' Then what would have been a routine one-hour flight turned into 20 hours of hell on four wheels - 16 of which were taken up going through the Andes through the most terrifying non-stop hairpin bends. Most of that time was spent with Jen-na throwing up and ferrying little sick bags to and from the tiny toilet all for the sake of saving $200."
Now the Pritchards are faced with a different challenge - adjusting to ev-eryday life of school and homework.
