Once upon a time, there was a king of Vijayanagar. He had a jester, who was very clever, and the jester was hankering to solve problems.

One day, while the king was cutting fruits, he was accidentally got hurt. Then the jester said, "Whatever that happens to us, is for our own good". By listening to this the king got mad. He asked jester, "I got hurt while cutting. It is not a good thing. But you said that whatever happens to us is for our own good." Then, angrily, he kept jester in the jail.

One day, the king and his soldiers went hunting into the forest. There some forest savage came and took the king by offering him to their goddess. While they were going to kill him, suddenly they found the wounded finger. They have a rule that they would not kill anyone who had got hurt. So, they released the king.

After coming to his kingdom, the king came to jester said, "Actions speak louder than words, you are truly a wise man. What you said is correct." And he told jester whatever happened in the forest. The jester laughed and then the king asked him, although you are correct but what makes it good, that I kept you in jail. Then jester said, Your Majesty, "If you had not kept me in jail, I would have come with you to the forest. You got hurt, so they lived you. But I did not get hurt. So, they may have killed me. So, keeping me in jail is a good thing for me and it saved my life."

By listening to this, the king realized his mistake and said, "Jester, once again you've proved that you are very clever." And the king gave him a gift. All the people clapped for the jester.

Some other day, the king called jester and said "To again prove that you are clever, I will give you one task. You should solve it. If you do, I will give you a bag of Gold Coins." Then jester said, "Yes, Your Majesty. What will the task be ?" Then the king said, "You should find 5 people who are fools in one week." The jester accepted the challenge.

After one week, he came to the meeting hall. All were eagerly waiting to listen to what The jester would say. The king asked, "Did you finish the task?" Then jester replied, "Yes, Your Majesty." The king then asked, “Where are the 5 people?” The jester answered, "These are the members who are found as fools." But the king asked that there are only 2 members here, "Where are the other 3 members?"

The jester said, "Your Majesty, I will explain." And he did. First, he showed a person and said "Your Majesty, he was the fifth fool whom I found, because, on his house rooftop, some grass had grown. He took his goat and pulled it to the top of the house to feed it with grass." By hearing this, all the people laughed along with the king.

Next, he showed another person and said he is the fourth fool because he was going on a bullock cart, he thought that the bags which were in the cart were very heavy for the bullocks so he kept that bags on his head. So, he is the fourth fool.

Then the king asked who the third fool was? He said, "I am the third fool because, I have so many important works, but I did not care about that. Instead, I was searching for fools."

"And the second fool is you the king because you have so many works in the kingdom but instead of that you are finding fools. So, you are the second fool." The king and all the people laughed.

Then, the king asked who the first fool is? All were eagerly waiting. Then, jester said, "The one who is hearing this story is the first fool."

For his cleverness, the king gave him a bag of gold coins.

曾經有一位維加亞納加爾國王，他有一個很聰明的小丑，小丑經常熱心地解決各種問題。

有一天，正在切水果的國王不小心受傷了。小丑說：「不管什麼事發生在我們身上，都是對我們有好處的。」聽到這裡，國王非常生氣，他問小丑：「我切水果割傷了，這怎麼會是好事，但你卻說：『發生的一切都對我們有好處？』」於是氣呼呼地把小丑關在監獄裡。

有一天，國王和士兵進森林狩獵，遭遇森林蠻族被抓住，蠻族打算把他送給他們的女神獻祭。當蠻族準備要殺死國王時，突然發現了那受傷的手指。蠻族有條規矩，「不殺任何受傷的人」。於是，他們釋放了國王。

國王回宮後對小丑說：「事實勝於雄辯，你果真是個聰明人，你說得對。」他告訴小丑森林裡發生的一切，小丑笑了，然後國王問小丑：「雖然你說得對，但我把你關在監獄裡，怎麼會是『發生的一切都對我們有好處』呢？」小丑說：「陛下，如果你不把我關在監獄裡，我會和你一起到森林裡去。你受了傷，所以他們放了你；但是我沒受傷，所以他們可能殺了我！所以，把我關在監獄裡對我來說是件好事，它救了我一命。」

聽到這兒，國王知道自己的錯誤，說：「小丑，再一次證明你的機智。」國王賜給了他禮物，所有的人都為小丑鼓掌。

某一天，國王又傳喚小丑：「為了再次證明你的聰明，我會給你一個任務，如果完成，我會給你一袋金幣。」小丑於是問：「是的陛下，這個任務是什麼？」國王說：「在一周內，你必須找到五個傻瓜。」小丑接受了這挑戰。

一周後，小丑來到會議廳。所有人都殷切期待他將說的話。國王問：「你完成這任務了嗎？」小丑說：「是的陛下。」國王問：「五個傻瓜在哪裡？」小丑回答：「這些人就是。」「但是，」國王問，「這裡只有兩人，其他三個傻瓜在哪呢？」

小丑說：「陛下，我會解釋。」他開始說，首先，他指著一個人說：「他是我找到的第五個傻瓜，因為他屋頂上長了些草，他就把他的山羊拉到房頂餵草。」聽到這裡，所有人都和國王一起笑了起來。

接下來，他指向另一個人說，他是第四個傻瓜，因為他坐在一輛牛車上，他認為有些袋子對牛車來說太重了，於是他把這些袋子頂在頭上。所以，他是第四傻。

國王問：「那第三傻是誰？」他說：「我是第三傻，因為我有很多重要的工作該做，但是我沒去處理，反而在尋找傻瓜。

第二傻就是陛下你，因為你有這麼多國家大事該做，卻在尋找五個傻瓜。所以，陛下是第二傻。」國王和全體人民都笑了起來。

「那麼，」國王問，「第一傻是誰？」所有人都急切地想知道。小丑於是說：「圍觀的人是第一傻。」

為了獎賞他的聰明，國王給小丑一袋金幣。
