A desperate Chinese university student wants to "rent" a girlfriend for 10 days so he can show her off to his parents over the Lunar New Year holiday, state media reported on Jan. 31.

官方媒體一月卅一日報導，中國大陸一名「走投無路」的大學生，想「租」個女友，為期十天，好讓他在農曆春節期間帶回去「秀」給父母看。

The physics student, who gave his name as Zhu Lijie, posted a notice on a bulletin board at Peking University offering 1,000 yuan to a woman who would pose as his girlfriend for the trip home for the holiday, Xinhua News Agency reported.

新華社報導，物理系學生自稱名叫朱利杰，他在北大佈告欄貼上告示，表示願意出1,000元人民幣給願意冒充他女友陪他回老家過年的女子。

The advertisement said the woman should be "an honest, kind and similar-aged girl with a diploma."

廣告上說，這名女子必須「要很老實，溫柔，年齡相當，還要有文憑。」Xinhua said Zhu had told his parents, who were pressuring him to get a girlfriend, that he had been studying too hard and had no time to meet a potential partner.

新華社說，朱利杰已經告訴他父母，他因為太用功讀者，所以很難找到理想伴侶，但他父母一直逼他要趕快交女友。

Peking University officials and the police have warned women to be wary of such advertisements.

北大官員和警方已經警告女性，對這類廣告要提高警覺。

A psychology professor was quoted as saying Zhu was trying to show filial piety to his parents but was only cheating them.
