8.Suffering of the Five Skandhas : Sentient beings suffer because their mind and body cause karma and defilement to arise. Our body and mind are the provisional aggregations of the Five Skandhas which consist of form, feeling, cognition, formation and consciousness. The Five Skandhas cause karma and continuously disturbs the body and mind like burning flames which increase sufferings. Thus, it is called “suffering of the Five Skandhas.” This suffering is the totality of the above seven sufferings.
8.五陰熾盛苦︰有情眾生之所以會產生痛苦,是因為有身心起惑造業。身心是由色、受、想、行、識五陰假合而成;五陰造業,逼惱身心,生生不息,如火熾然,真是苦上加苦,是名五陰熾盛苦。此苦是前面七苦的總體。
Suffering is reality, but to expound such a reality is not the main objective of Buddhist teachings. It is for us to recognize the sources of sufferings in order to find the methods of liberating ourselves and attaining joyfulness. Thus, if one wishes to be emancipated from sufferings, the only way is to believe in Buddhism. The Triple Gem in Buddhism: the Buddha is like a good doctor who is good in curing sentient beings’diseases; the Dharma is like good medicine which can eliminate sentient beings’ sufferings; while the Sangha is like nurses who can ease sentient beings’afflictions. In the ocean of Buddha’s teachings, sentient beings can obtain tranquility, faith, wisdom, joy, and carefree. Therefore, the Buddha’s teachings are light for human beings and the savior of this world.
苦是一個事實,但是佛教講苦並非目的,而是要我們認清苦的來源,進而找出離苦得樂的方法,所以欲除痛苦,唯有信仰佛教。佛教裡的佛法僧三寶,佛如良醫,善療眾生病;法如良藥,能除眾生苦;僧如看護,常解眾生惱。
在佛法大海,眾生可以得到安慰、得到信心、得到智慧、得到歡喜、得到自在,所以佛法是人類的光明,是世間的救星。
