Last month I attended my friends' graduation1 convocation. In fact, I have mixed feelings about the ceremony.2 On the one hand, I was upset that I couldn't see my friends as often as before. On the other hand, I was really happy for them. After all, they are going to pursue their new achievements.3
  上個月我參加了朋友的畢業典禮，事實上，我的心情是複雜的。一方面，再也不能和朋友常見面讓我覺得沮喪；但另一方面，卻真的為他們感到高興。畢竟他們就要追求他們的新成就！

  I gave one of my friends, Susan, a picture frame as a present. I hope she can use it to keep the picture that she likes. Susan will study in Illinois this fall for her Ph. D. degree. All I can do is wish her the very best.

 In America, commencement is a ceremony at a university in which graduates receive their degrees. Interestingly, the word "commencement" means beginning. Indeed, commencement should not mean the end of learning but the beginning of a brand-new6 life.
  美國大學的畢業典禮，畢業生會拿到他們的畢業證書。有趣的是，英文的畢業典禮這個詞指的是「開始」！的確，畢業典禮不應該意味著學習的結束，而應是一個嶄新人生的開始！
