The 7th Art Salon, showcased from 28 October to 26 November 20023, at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland has attracted visitors from all walks of life, including over 40 visiting groups and 5,400 guests. These visitors have filled every corner of the Temple with vitality and youthful energy. Through the guides’ engaging explanations, visitors gained a deeper understanding of the garden landscapes, the ancient architecture, the diverse functions of the shrines, and the meaning of the Three Acts of Goodness and the Four Givings. Additionally, the delicious and healthy vegetarian food at the Water Drop Cafe was highly praised.

The wise words of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the Founder of FGS Buddhist Order displayed along the Temple’s corridors, deeply inspired the visitors and inquired about the author of these words. Diane, a 90-year-old visitor, was particularly touched upon learning that Venerable Master, despite blurred vision due to diabetes at 70, began writing one stroke calligraphy as a means to spread joy among the public, she strongly felt his compassion.

Visitors were pleasantly surprised to find a diverse and high-quality exhibition of local artists’ works at the Temple, inspiring  love for life and aesthetic appreciation. They actively supported the artists by collecting paintings, jewellery and ceramics as Christmas gifts. The umbrella installation art on the long wallway brought infinite joy to visitors, with its vibrant colours instilling hope.

The visitors feel warmth and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the Temple visit. They cherished the gift-pencils and learned to express gratitude with joined palms and lotus gestures. The group thanked the Founder for gifting such a beautiful Temple to New Zealand, serving the community and enhancing one’s quality of life. Following  the teaching of the Venerable Master, the Temple serves as a petrol station for life, providing a space for community and personal enrichment.
