海地昏昏欲睡的教育

Haiti is seeking to reverse the worst literacy rate in the Americas by 2010 through an ambitious campaign, that will offer free reading and writing lessons for 3 million Haitians, about a third of the population.

Education in Haiti changed during the 1970s and the 1980s. Primary en-rollments increased greatly, especially in urban areas. Nevertheless, as of 1982 about 65 percent of the popula-tion over ten years of age had received no education and only 8 percent was educated beyond the primary level.
海地教育情況在1970和1980年代曾大幅改善,小學入學率大增,尤其在都會區。但到1982年仍有約65%十歲以上人口沒有受教育,小學以上受教育的比率更只有8%。
