Beatles fan Gerardo Weiss ran a typical Buenos Aires barber shop until he had a dream that the Fab Four dropped in for a haircut. Seven years later, Weiss has made Beatles-inspired cuts his specialty. “The dream got etched on my memory,” he said at the modest salon, the walls plastered with photos of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
披頭四死忠粉絲韋斯原本在阿根廷布宜諾斯艾利斯開一家普通理髮店，直到他夢見披頭四到他店裡理髮。7年後，韋斯把披頭士式的髮型變成他的專長。他在不怎麼起眼的理髮店說：「那場夢牢牢鐫刻在我記憶中。」牆上貼滿約翰藍儂、保羅麥卡尼、喬治哈里森和林哥史達的照片。
“I decided to get rid of the pictures these places usually have and just put up photos of The Beatles ... so people could see them and ask for their haircuts,” he said. One picture shows Lennon cutting someone's hair, another is of Harrison with curly locks down to his shoulders. It is the stuff of inspiration for Weiss.

“My favorite Beatles' haircut is the one Paul McCartney had in '74, when he was doing the Band on the Run tour ... it was short on the sides and longer at the back,” said Weiss, whose eight-year-old son is called Lennon. “When my wife got pregnant I prayed to God for a son, so I could pay homage to John,” he said as “Hey Jude,” with Lennon strumming on a guitar, played in the background.

At first, the salon's Beatles-inspired makeover was a little too radical for many locals in the working-class city neighborhood of Flores. But word spread and people from outside Buenos Aires and even abroad began trickling. “I've told some of my friends, the ones who are Beatles fans, to come and they liked the results,” Mario Genua, a 22-year-old petrol station attendant, said as Weiss styled his hair into a “John 1964” -- fluffy on top and at the sides. “They were very different (and) they're still fashionable,” he said.
一開始，在工人階級居多的阿根廷弗洛雷斯附近城市開一家披頭四風格的理髮店，當地不少人覺得未免有點太超過了。但有了口碑，來自布宜諾斯艾利斯以外的城市甚至國外的客人開始陸續上門。「我已經告訴一些朋友，他們都是披頭迷，他們來了之後對所剪的髮型相當滿意。」22歲的加油站員工葛努亞說，韋斯正在幫他梳理「1964年約翰藍儂」那款髮型：頭頂和兩側蓬鬆。他說：「它們與眾不同（而且）還很時尚。」
Weiss has no plans to move his business to bigger premises in a trendy neighborhood or to tap into the city's booming tourist trade. His dream is to keep Beatles' cuts in style. “I'll carry The Beatles in my soul, my spirit, my blood for the rest of my life,” he said. “They left a mark on me and I'm really happy to be able to do what I do. I even get paid for it.”
韋斯目前還沒計畫到更時髦的社區開業，或好好利用布宜諾斯艾利斯蓬勃發展的旅遊業。他的夢想是讓披頭士的髮型永遠不退流行。他說：「這一生中，我的靈魂、我的精神、我的血液將永遠與披頭四同在。他們在我身上留下印記，我很高興能做這行，最棒的是還可以拿到報酬。」
The legendary moptop was started by Beatle-friend Jurgen Vollmer in the 1950's. One day Jurgen left his hair hanging over his face after he had gone swimming. The Beatles met Jurgen when they were in Hamburg, Germany. At the time, Jurgen was a student at Hamburg's Institute of Fashion. Jurgen became one of the Beatle's photographers. So, technically, the “Beatle Haircut,”should really be called the “Jurgen Vollmer Look”.
披頭四的招牌「拖把頭」濫觴於他們在1950年代的朋友約根．福爾默。有一天，約根游完泳之後，濕淋淋的頭髮披掛在臉上，披頭四在德國漢堡認識約根。當時約根是漢堡時尚研究所學生，後來成為披頭四攝影師之一。因此，技術上所謂「披頭四髮型」應正名為「約根．福爾默髮型」。
In September, 1961, Paul and John traveled to Paris to visit their friend Jurgen. The first “Beatle haircut” of Paul and John happened in Paris. George got his haircut when Paul and John returned. The moptop became a symbol of youth and being cool. Today, it is also a symbol of the 60's and the Beatles.
1961年9月，保羅和藍儂到巴黎探望老友約根，他們倆第一款「披頭四經典髮型」就是在巴黎剪的。等他們回國後，喬治也跟進，剪了同樣的髮型。這種拖把頭已成為年輕和酷帥的象徵；今天，這也成為60年代和披頭四的標記。
The moptop haircut made its big splash in 1964 when the Beatles came to America. In other countries, the mop top had different names. In Sweden, it was the 'Hamlet' cut. In Germany, it was called the 'mushroom' cut. Recently, Javier Bardem took on this hair cut to portray the villain in No Country for Old Men.

Even young men in Communist countries such as the Soviet Union began to adopt the hairstyle. It was seen by the government as a sign of extreme rebellion. Men wearing it would be arrested, taken to a police station, and forced to have their hair cut before being released.
當時連像前蘇聯這種共產國家的青少年也開始流行這種髮型。但政府認為這是極端叛逆的象徵，剪這種頭的男子會被捕並帶到警局，強制剪髮後才能獲釋。
For The Beatles mop top haircut, 1964 to 66 were a good period. After that time, the group began to experiment with different looks, including all four wearing mustaches when they posed for the cover of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band album. They also began to let their hair grow much longer, and John began to wear the glasses for which he is well known.
