前言︰
自本周起，本版將刊出《彼得與珍的歷險記》系列故事，其構思為將英語學習者帶進用英語對話的真實場景中，以增進他們的對話技巧和字彙量。彼得與珍是一對二十多歲、住在美國典型城市的戀人，透過彼此間和朋友、同事間的互動，來解決日常生活中各種狀況和問題。彼得與珍及其他人物能確切反應出真實生活中真實人物的困擾，讀彼得和珍的故事將是個有趣，甚至是古怪搞笑的體驗，學生們能學會如何應對，並以令人熟悉的美式風格來對話。

Peter︰Hey Jane, can you help me with these boxes  Some of them are quite heavy.

Jane︰No problem. Wow, you have a quite a lot of stuff.1 Where do you plan to put all this

Peter︰Don't worry, I've got plenty of room. Of course, my clothes will go into the closet2, over here. For those books over there, I'm planning to go to Ikea to buy some shelves.

Jane︰Do  you know how to install shelves yourself  It seems like a lot hard work. Are you sure you can handle it

Peter︰I think so. When you buy the shelves3, the store will give you an instruction manual4 that explains how to install them. I'm pretty sure I can figure it out.

Jane︰Are you sure  You're so clumsy5 sometimes......Maybe I can call my father to come help you. He's very handy.

Peter︰Your father  That's a laugh. The last time he tried to help me, he hurt his back and couldn't walk for almost three days.

彼得︰喂，珍啊，妳能幫我搬箱子嗎？有些還滿重的。

珍︰好啊。哇，你有很多東西噢。你打算擺那裡？

彼得︰別擔心，我有足夠的空間。當然，我的衣服會進那個衣櫥。那些書呢，我打算去宜家買些櫃子。

珍︰你知道怎麼自己組裝書櫃嗎？看起來很困難。你確定你能搞定？
彼得︰應該吧。買櫃子時，他們會給你使用說明，解釋如何組裝。我有信心能自己解決。

珍︰你確定？你有時超笨手笨腳的。也許我能打電話給我爸，請他來幫忙。他手腳滿靈活的。

彼得︰妳爸？真好笑。上次他試著幫我，結果傷了他的背，三天都不能走。
