Elevn paintings were stolen in 2006 from the home in the hamlet of Quiogue on eastern Long Island. The Pricest was a piece by French cubist Jean Metzinger entitled: "Femme en Premier Plan Avec Corbeille Fleurs et Fond Denature Morte" and valued at $420,000, as shown in this photo. An additional $1 million in artwork was destroyed when the home was set afire in February 2006. The home was owned by Jerry Levin, former CEO of the Coleman Company Inc., the camping goods maker.
According to authorities, five men have been arrested in connection with the theft of the paintings. Three men pleaded not guilty to stealing paintings worth $500,000 from the Hamptons estate and burning down the mansion to cover up the crime.
