J：Hi! David. This is Jan White. I am having a dinner party on January 12th for my birthday. Would you like to come

D：Happy Birthday, Jan. I'd love to go to your party, but let me check my schedule. Oh, no! I have a morning presentation in Chicago on the 13th. I'll need to prepare on the evening of the 12th and get up early to drive to Chicago the next morning.

J： I really hoped you could come.

D： Me too. I am so sorry.

J： That's OK. It can't be helped.

D： Happy birthday. Thank you for asking, anyway.

J： You are welcome. Hope you do well on your presentation.

珍 ：嗨！大衛，1月12日我要開生日派對，你想要參加嗎？

大衛：生日快樂！珍，當然，我很想參加妳的派對，不過我先查一下我的行程表。哦！慘了，13號早上在芝加哥我有個報告，所以12號晚上我要做準備，隔天早上要很早起床開車到芝加哥。

珍 ：我真希望你能來。

大衛：我也是，很抱歉。

珍 ：沒關係，那也是沒辦法的事。
