The 1981 wedding gown worn by Diana, Princess of Wales during her royal wedding to Prince Charles, is unpacked at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, 20 September 2007. The gown is the highlight of an exhibition called 'Diana : a celebration' running at the museum from 29 September until May next year and which chronicles Diana's life from her child-hood years through to her wedding to Prince Charles and her very public life as the Princess of Wales.

The ivory silk and taffeta gown was designed under great secrecy by young British designers Elizabeth and David Emanuel, and its unveiling was highly anticipated around the world. The fairytale gown is based on Victo-rian era fashion, complete with vin-tage lace detailing, puffed sleeves and delicate hand embroidery.
