提要
世上最深厚的，莫過於父母對孩子生養之恩。從牙牙學語、讀書識字到成家立業，孩子一生的成長過程，都凝聚父母無盡的心血。面對父母難償的養育之恩，傾全力、終一生都無以為報，如何能夠虧待父母？「木碗」是老故事，但提醒大眾「百善孝為先」卻是「永不退流行」。
It was a beautiful family of five. An old man was the head of the family and he had only one son, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, a boy and a girl.
The family had a lot of fun and enjoyed life at its fullest. As an ordinary family, all the five used to have dinner together, every day.
As days passed by, the health of the old man gradually weakened. His vision became very poor, he wasn't able to walk without support and his hands and legs started trembling.
One day, while serving dinner, the old man whose hands and legs shivered and he couldn't see properly, then spilled the food on the table. With shaky hands the old man wasn't able to eat properly, the bowl dropped on the table.
His son and daughter-in-law were completely annoyed, as he messed up the dinner. It was repeated the next day as the old man couldn't help himself.
The son was irritated and his wife told him, "I can't bear this anymore. He spoils dinner time. We should do something." The son agreed.
They set up a new table and chair in the corner of the hall and made their old father sit there for the food. The old man wasn't able to hold the plate or glass, and he broke a few pieces of utensils. Therefore his son gave him a wooden bowl as it's unbreakable.
While the rest of the family seemed to enjoy the meal time, the old man was in tears as he was having his food alone. The old man used to recollect the happy memories of his family and hardly tolerated his current situation.
The days passed by and the old man died calmly. After the funeral, they were cleaning the house. The five-year-old boy uttered a few words to his elder sister, and the little girl said yes.
They were searching for something and it was noticed by their parent. The man asked the children "What are you searching fo?" The girl replied, "The wooden bowl which the grandpa used to have food!"
He asked, "But why?"
Their mother said, "They want to preserve it in memory of their grandpa!"
After the children got the bowl, the boy asked his father, "Dad, can you buy one more bowl like this?"
Surprised by the question, the man asked "why son?"
The girl replied, "see, we have only one bowl. If you and mom get old, how would we feed you both with one bowl? So we need to buy another one for mother!"
The elders realized their terrible mistake, but could never get the forgiveness from the deceased old man anymore!

一個美麗的五口之家裡，有一位老人家、他的獨子、兒媳婦和兩個孫子，一個男孩和一個女孩。
這個充滿樂趣的家庭，享受著充實的生活。如同一般家庭，他們五個人每天都在一起共進晚餐。
隨著歲月的流逝，老人的健康情況逐漸走下坡：他的視力變得很模糊、沒有人攙扶就無法行走、他的手和腿也開始顫抖。
有一天吃晚飯的時候，手腳顫抖、視力模糊的老人，把食物灑在桌子上；由於手拿不穩、不停抖動而無法正常進食，碗也掉在桌子上。
因為老人搞砸了晚餐，讓他的兒子兒媳非常惱火，第二天的晚餐，又重複地發生了一次，老人無法控制自己。
兒子被激怒了，他的妻子告訴他：「我再也無法忍受了。他破壞了晚餐時光。我們應該做點什麼。」老人的兒子表示同意。
他們在大廳的一角擺了一套新桌椅，讓老父親坐在那裡吃飯。老人無法握住盤子或玻璃杯、打破了幾件餐具。因此，他的兒子給父親一個木碗，因為那是打不破的。
雖然家裡的其他人似乎都享受用餐時間，但老人卻因為獨自吃飯而落淚。這位老先生過去常常留下他與家人的美好回憶，但他目前的處境幾乎讓他無法忍受。
隨著歲月流逝，老人悄無聲息地離開人世。葬禮結束後，他們正在打掃房屋時，五歲的男孩對他的姐姐說了幾句話，小女孩說：「是的。」
孩子們尋找東西的舉動，吸引父母的注意。那個男人問兒子：「你在找什麼呢？」女孩替弟弟回答：「爺爺過去用來吃飯的木碗。」
那個男人問：「這是為什麼？」
孩子的母親說：「他們想保留它來紀念爺爺！」
孩子們拿到碗後，男孩問他的父親：「爸爸，你能再買一個這樣的碗嗎？」
對這個問題感到驚訝的男人問兒子：「為什麼？」
女孩回答：「看，我們只有一個碗。如果你和媽媽老了，我們該怎麼用一個碗餵你們兩位？所以我們需要為媽媽另買一個碗！
兩個大人察覺自己嚴重的錯誤，卻已永遠無法得到已故老人的寬恕。
